Action on racism

Seeing the TV footage and reading about the assault by what seemed to be Chelsea supporters on a black man trying to board a Paris Metro train, just imposing a ban on their attending
Chelsea matches seems quite
pathetically inadequate.

The racist chant alone deserves prosecution; the assault should get a severe penalty, not just a slap on the wrist.

It’s not about football supporters, it’s about UK citizens’ xenophobia continuing unabated after so many decades of
immigration to the UK and
Europe.

Integration has been pretty successful in most cases, but some second and third generations do seem to have trouble, and clearly this kind of blatant hostility will block off further acceptance of the culture
their parents and grandparents accepted.

It will lead, if unchecked, to
increasing societal divisions, something evident already in some localities.
