Action not words

I write in response to Jane Bradley’s report (17 December) about the scandal of hidden charges. Why do we allow ourselves to be treated as complacent idiots by allowing performers, venue owners, organisers and merchandisers to charge us outrageous extras for the privilege of paying to see shows?

One word describes these rip-off extras: greed. How must we consumers react? With facta non verba – action not words. Why not boycott all shows that continue to exhibit contempt for consumers? Hit them where it will most hurt: their income – lots of empty seats at performances. Performers, venue owners, organisers and their ilk must condemn or condone such rip-off extras. I await their response.
