From the archive: Ticket chaos could cost me my job, says Fringe chief - 12 August, 2008

Have your say

THE director of the Fringe yesterday admitted his job may be on the line as he announced inquiries into ticketing troubles and the future of the Festival.

Fringe director Jon Morgan met with 40 venue bosses yesterday and emerged to say that two independent reviews would examine both the box office failures that snarled tens of thousands of ticket sales and the whole structure of the Fringe. And when asked if he feared for his job after the ticketing fiasco, Mr Morgan said: “Everything has to be up for consideration as part of the review.”

But he added: “I feel confident that I have made the right decisions in the situation I was in, the range of options I have. I don’t feel I have anything to fear from the review.”

Mr Morgan also revealed the Fringe office was forced to hire 50 extra staff on top of the 130 already working.
