THERE’S no doubt a little comfort food can go a long way in times of torment.

But it remains something of a surprise to learn that West Lothian racing star Dario Franchitti has turned to fry-ups to cope with splitting from actress wife and Hollywood star Ashley Judd.

The celebrity couple stunned fans when they announced their split in January.

The Bathgate-born Indy 500 winner said: “I like a Scottish breakfast – bacon, eggs, sausage and all that kind of stuff.”

But he revealed that gorging on grease was playing havoc with his motor skills.

The 39-year-old said: “I’m eating out a lot . . . I need a lot of help. It’s not really a real athlete’s diet.”
