THEY are doing their bit to fight against capitalist greed, so it seems only fair residents of the Occupy Edinburgh camp in St Andrew Square get a bit of entertainment.

The protest village’s choice of films is predictably on-message, including climate-change classic The Age of Stupid and Recipes for Disaster, an award-winning documentary about living without oil for a year.

But just how will these anti-corporate anti-oil eco-warriors of justice get to watch these celluloid gems? Well, they will be swapping popcorn for pedal-power, generating their own electricity to drive their projector.

Anyone wanting to take part in the unique outdoor eco-film festival should head along to the camp on Saturday for a look, and rest easy – cycling is not compulsory.

Sweetener should make those moustaches grow

IF you happen to be concerned about the number of unshaven men and Tom Selleck look-a-likes popping up around town, relax – it’s just the annual Movember charity drive.

The innovative fundraiser, which encourages the creation of hairy upper lips to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression, is once again being backed by hundreds of locals. And to help encourage a few more, local bakery Bibi’s has got in on the act.

The store in Hanover Street will be giving away free cupcakes to the customer with the best moustache each day.

Stroke of luck for owner

BREVITY, so the Bard had it, is the soul of wit – although when it comes to looking for a lost pet it’s not generally the best idea.

Nevertheless, one concerned cat owner clearly felt a few bold facts would be enough to secure the safe return of their missing moggy, and so created a poster in Bellevue Crescent reading: “LOST CAT. VERY FLUFFY”.

Amazingly, Talk of the Town understands that cat and owner were quickly reunited.
