IT’s the big-budget blockbuster set to put the Scott Monument on the global stage – but there’s one exciting moment the directors of Cloud Atlas have left on the cutting room floor.

In thrilling scenes last year a stuntman was shot climbing down the side of the City Chambers, which was doubling for a London Hotel. Stunt organisers said it was “unique”, so it’s a shame it didn’t make the cut – it would have made a change from protestors hitting the ceiling.

A priestly merry-go-round began as soon as it became apparent that the cardinal would not take the Sunday service due to the allegations made against him, with Bishop Stephen Robson instead being parachuted into St Mary’s Cathedral from Broxburn to explain the situation to the cardinal’s congregation.

Meanwhile, the bereft Broxburn parishioners were left to receive their weekly dose of sermonising - from the stand-in’s stand-in.
