Talk of the Town: Doughnut craze will pass. Maybe

THERE’S been no respite in the doughnut-related chaos which has hit the Capital since the opening of Scotland’s first Krispy Kreme outlet.

In the four weeks since it opened the store at Hermiston Gait has served an average of 10,000 customers a day – and with queueing drivers waiting around 15 minutes at the drive-through in the middle of the day on a Wednesday, residents might be wondering if the craze will ever pass.

Well rest easy – Talk of the Town has been sent exclusive pictures of a Krispy Kreme outlet in London which is almost totally deserted.

Drawing the line at goal

IT seems that Leigh Griffiths’ super strike is set to live long in the memory after pranksters added the goal that never was to a list of optical illusions. A picture of the goal, which was not given by the referee, reads: “It almost looks as if the ball is over the line.”

Who’s that with Lesley?

WHILE Edinburgh has plenty of tardi handy, former Doctor Who David Tennant fortunately wasn’t rushing for the exits when he was mobbed by fans at the City Chambers yesterday.

The affable star, in town to shoot scenes for his latest drama, posed for pictures with fans – and even made the day of our own transport convener by posing with the beaming Lesley Hinds.

Currying favour with new Pope

THERE’S a new Pope in town, and Archbishop Tartaglia, apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, said he had “offered a grateful prayer of thanksgiving”. Hopefully he’s not following one of the fake papal accounts which have sprung up, including one suggesting the new Pontiff would celebrate with “a vindaloo and a few cold cans”.
