The First Minister hit out at the UK Chancellor days after he ruled out doing a deal with an independent Scotland to allow it to keep the pound as its currency

He hit out at the “destructive campaigning style and rhetoric of the Westminster establishment” as he mounted a defence of plans for an independent Scotland to continue to use the pound as part of a currency union.

He also insisted that the main Westminster parties would change their stance on a currency union if there is a Yes vote in September.
