The chief executive of the Co-operative Group Euan Sutherland has resigned from his post after claiming that the UK’s largest mutual business was “ungovernable”.
The Group confirmed that Mr Sutherland had left the Co-op with “immediate effect”. He will be replaced by Richard Pennycook, the group’s Chief Financial Officer, who has been appointed as Interim Group Chief Executive.
