Lynne McCrossan: Denim den will chase away your shopping blues

There’s a new kid on the block tucked up Thistle Street.

Amongst Edinburgh’s shopping icons, such as Jane
Davidson and Pam Jenkins, a
little denim emporium has settled right in.

The shop is so new there isn’t even a sign above the door to tell you who abides there.

Luckily, I’ve done my nosy and can tell you it’s a lovely lass called Adele Crombie.

Inside the cozy old Georgian shop in the Capital’s New Town, Adele has a selection of jeans you can’t get anywhere else in the country.

Any true denim connoisseur will tell you Bleulab are the Holy Grail of jeans right now, with their reversible range being sported by hip Hollywood starlets.

Having them in my hand made me feel a little dizzy – sad but true!

For the past few months, Adele has roped friends and family in to help renovate the shop – restoring original floor boards, releasing painted-back wooden shutters and recycling the old stone hearth from the fitting room to now take pride of place as a custom-built cash desk.

Everyone has been so hands-on she’s had to rap her father’s knuckles after finding him rearranging merchandise without telling her.

It is the prefect addition to Edinburgh’s
budding exclusive brands reputation.

FASHION INSISDER

The hotly anticipated Alice Temperley line has finally touched down in John Lewis. It’s a 60-piece collection with something for every age group, and I’m currently coveting an electric blue silk blouse that has “timeless” and “staple” item

written all over it.
