Lynne McCrossan: Collection puts on a show for the snow

Fashion trends may come and go but good style never changes.

So when Harvey Nichols decided to throw a fashion show to showcase its winter collection I knew it would be spectacular.

I knew this was because it was being held in our newly refurbished Portrait Gallery.

For the past three years I’ve been bereft by its closure as it was one of my favourite places to spend a spare afternoon.

The doors don’t officially open until Thursday, so I took my opportunity for a sneaky peek very seriously.

And there in the opulent surroundings of the Tartan Portraits exhibition a little fashion magic happened.

Gown after glorious gown came down the catwalk, each one more classic than the last.

Designers from McQueen to Mui Mui made the room light up as Christmas party frocks in silks and velvets looked good enough to eat.

The icing on the cake came in the form of a soft white feather mini dress encased inside a sharp silk tuxedo jacket by Marlene Birger.

It was like the fairy on top of the tree had gone through a makeover.

All the looks are on sale in a pop-up store in personal shopper for one week only. Hurry and go see my stylish snow angel.

Glam rock is the look to get your head around this festive period. The high street is taking inspiration from David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust days so get your glitter on to be on trend.
