Karen Koren: Egging the boys on to Scottish FA Cup victory

MY recent trip to Oz meant that I had a late Easter egg painting party this year... well, Easter did come early.Julie and Steph Harris, sisters who used to work for me in the 90s, came to visit from London with their children.

That’s one of the advantages of my job - I have had and still have wonderful staff, many of whom, when they leave, go on to great things.

Steph, for example, is a TV executive who started on Aggie and Kim’s How Clean Is Your House then went on to create Embarrassing Bodies.

Julie moved from working for me in the Cowgate where she reinvented the Gilded Balloon every August to being art director on Rick Gervais’ The Office and has designed many TV series and films since. She is now settled with beautiful, 18-month-old son Teddie.

Anyway, my egg painting party was busy and went very well. The winner was an egg pair of pandas – very clever. The bright spark who thought that up was none other than Kath Mainland the CEO of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Luckily I had bought chocolate eggs before I went to Australia, anticipating there would be none left in the shops, so the egg hunt went on after my son, grandson and brother returned from watching Hibs get through to the cup final. So there was jubilation.

Discovering the next day that Hibs will be playing Hearts in the final was wonderful news as, we women who are not the slightest bit interested, are reliably informed that it is the first time the two teams have met in the Scottish Cup Final since 1896.

Can’t both teams win!? I know our lives won’t be worth a toss if Hibs loose so, I would like to wish Hibs well... but not to put a damper on it, they haven’t got a hope in hell of winning... Have they?
