Be on top of your game for new job

A DREAM job has come on to the market for those button bashers who think nothing of spending hours on end with a control pad in their hands.

Grand Theft Auto designer Rockstar North in Edinburgh is recruiting professional games testers to run the rule over its latest instalment of the smash hit.

Successful applicants will be paid an undisclosed salary for playing the crime-themed game at the company’s HQ to help bust bugs.

The job is likely to involve hours repeating the same section over and over again to find any potential flaws or problems, something unlikely to be a problem for any serious gamer.

Tory candidate hungry for votes . . and some grub

LAST week we told how Labour councillor Ricky Henderson intends to lose over two stones by the day of the local elections in May.

Now sources tell us his Conservative rival in Pentland Hills ward, Dom Heslop, intends to put ON two stones between now and polling day. Mr Heslop gave up smoking five months ago after a 20-year love affair with tobacco and has apparently suddenly realised he was underweight and now has a lot more time to eat.

Dashing around on the campaign trail has also helped to give him an appetite. One lady in Currie told him: “You’re so slender you could almost fit through my letterbox along with your leaflet.”

They’ve culled Kenny

SAD news reached us this week – the death of Kenny the goat.

Readers may recall that in 2004 Kenny and best pal Rory the sheep were looking for a loving home.

James Edgar, director of Icon Research in West Lothian, stepped in to create the pair a pen in the field beside his office.

But Kenny became ill over Christmas and Mr Edgar said the vet had put him down.

Mr Edgar said: “Kenny and Rory have been a huge part of our company’s life since they joined us in 2004. We know that the local community will miss Kenny.

“We are concerned about Rory as the pair has been inseparable since he was a lamb. We are seeking advice on the best way to ensure that Rory will be OK.”

New year, new career

EDINBURGH workers unhappy with their jobs might find themselves in a crowded market online today, with experts predicting this will be the busiest day of the year for job hunting.

MyJobGroup studied the past seven years and found that the first “normal” Tuesday after the new year was the busiest for people looking for new work.
