From the archives: East of SCotland Football Assoc: Generous Action by Heart of Midlothian Club, 29 November, 1912

a MEETING of the East of Scotland FA general committee was held last night in Edinburgh – Mr T Gray (St Bernards), the president, in the chair.

A letter was read from the Heart of Mid-Lothian secretary, enclosing a receipt for £5, the drawings from the final of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup. His directors, however, were desirous of giving back that sum as a donation to the Association’s funds. Mr Forrest, in moving a vote of thanks to Heart of Mid-Lothian Club, said he thought it was something unique for the Association to get money back in this way from one of their clubs. Mr Williamson reported that the income from the final was £28.14s and the expenditure was £19.9s. There was a balance of £2. 16s, which would be increased to £7.16s by the Hearts’ donation.
