From the archive: Unionist demonstrations in Ulster

Sir Edward Carson arrived in Belfast yesterday morning, having travelled via Liverpool, in order to take part in the great Orange demonstration at Craigavon today. He was met by Captain Craig MP, who will be his host during his present stay in Ulster, and motored at once through gaily decorated streets to Craigavon, where he spent the day quietly. The Twelfth demonstration at Craigavon is expected to make a record in numbers. Upwards of 90,000 Orangement will march to the field, including not only the Belfast lodges, but those from a wide district around the city and contingents from Liverpool, Glasgow and Dublin. Many thousands of Unionists unconnected with the Orange Order will be present at the meeting which will be addressed by Lord Londonderry, Sir Edward Carson, and several Ulster Unionist MPs.
