Anorak: French imports give Magpies the edge

NEWCASTLE have improved since the influx of French players in January, impressively scoring seven times in home wins against Southampton and Chelsea, and were unfortunate not to come away with anything from Swansea last week.

Stoke come calling tomorrow and, for the first time since Tony Pulis got the Potters promoted, there is discontent. I think the bookies have priced up Newcastle at slight odds-against because of Thursday night’s trip to Russia in the Europa League, but with several players rested up, Alan Pardew’s side look this week’s best value bet (11-10 general).

Bournemouth can halt a poor run by accounting for Doncaster (6-5 Coral), Zola’s talented Watford can beat struggling Blackpool (4-5 Hills), while QPR are fancied to make it two wins on the bounce by beating Sunderland (6-4 Bet 365), while you could also back French striker Loic Remy to score.
