Opera brings party to city

FOUR new shows will come to the Capital as Scottish Opera marks its 50th anniversary this year.

They include The Lady From The Sea, based on the Ibsen play, a collaboration between author Zoë Strachan and Scottish film composer Craig Armstrong.

It tells the story of the daughter of a lighthouse-keeper who must choose between her duty to her husband and her desire to follow the call of the sea.

Scottish Opera general director Alex Reedijk said it was a momentous year for the company.
