One in ten 'lonely this Christmas'

More than one in ten over-65s in Britain will be spending Christmas Day alone, according to a survey showing that a majority of people believe the festival is "over-rated".

Research for the think tank Theos also revealed 68 per cent of people will spend Christmas Day with their family.
