One killed in Livingston house fire

ONE person has died after a house fire, police confirmed today.

The blaze broke out at the terraced property in Ambrose Rise, Livingston, West Lothian, shortly before 5am today.

Lothian and Borders Police said the building was badly damaged in the fire.

A spokesman said: "There was one confirmed fatality. Inquiries are ongoing as to the cause of the fire."

Details of the person who died have not yet been released. No one else is thought to have been injured.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze has been extinguished and two engines remained at the scene.

A spokeswoman said investigations into the cause of the fire are at an early stage.
