Olympic honour for taekwondo pair

Two teenagers from a taekwondo club have been chosen as flag bearers for the martial art at the Olympic Games next year.

Thomas Anderson and Dilexan Aloysious, both 17, were nominated by their coach and will join a group of ten young taekwondo students in leading out the world’s top fighters at the games in London next summer.

The pair, from the Caledonian Taekwondo Anniesland club, were flown to London with former British champion and GB team captain, John Cullen, and are said to have impressed the London Olympic Organising Committee selection panel with their enthusiasm and commitment to the sport.

Thomas, from Knightswood, Glasgow, said: “It’s a dream to be leading out the world’s best Taekwondo fighters at the Olympics.”
