Officers hunt flare thieves

THIEVES who stole 36 flares from a Leith business were today being hunted by police.

The flares were stolen from Survitec Service and Distribution in Albert Road, along with three life rafts, two of which were later recovered.

It is believed that the thefts occurred between December 23 and January 4.

A police spokesman said: “It goes without saying that the flares can be dangerous in the wrong hands, and we are keen for any information that can help us trace the stolen items.”
