Officer in fancy dress shoots youth

AN OFF-duty police officer dressed in a clown costume shot dead a teenager who was trying to rob him at gunpoint.

The officer, who has not been named, was approached by the armed 16-year-old as he was leaving a fundraising event in the city, which he had attended in fancy dress. The teenager's gun was wrestled from him, and discharged, killing him.
