OAPs duped by bogus workmen

BOGUS workmen targeted a trio of pensioners by bullying them into paying large sums of cash for unnecessary building work.

The first incident saw two suspects visit a house in Clement Rise, in Livingston, at noon on Thursday and convinced the 62-year-old homeowner her roof tiles needed to be repaired.

After agreeing a price, the suspects forced the woman to hand over more money before failing to carry out the work.

On the same afternoon, in Ambrose Rise in Livingston, two men convinced an 82-year-old disabled woman to pay a three-figure sum before leaving without doing any work.

The third incident happened at Caroline Park, Mid Calder, between 12.30pm and 4pm on the same day when a 65-year-old woman was approached by two men offering to replace roof tiles. The victim told them she had to ask her friend for further guidance and the suspects left empty-handed.
