Nurses in call for cuts truth

HEALTH boards should be more open about the impact of financial cutbacks, city nurses have said.

The Royal College of Nursing in Edinburgh said NHS Lothian ought to publicise its plans to deal with the economy.

The health board will have to cut 2000 jobs over the next two years to save 70 million.

RCN director Theresa Fyffe said: "Despite claims that the NHS is protected from the budget cuts, many health boards are already facing real financial difficulties."
