Nude drunk swung genitals at teenagers

A DRUNK who walked out of his house naked was arrested after shocked neighbours called the police, a court has heard.

Stunned neighbours witnessed Gordon Baptie, 58, stumbling out of his home in Newtongrange, Midlothian, in September 2011 wearing no clothes, Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard today.

Shocked locals called the police after seeing him grab onto his private parts and then swing them towards a group of youths who were standing laughing at him nearby.

Lothian and Borders police came to his home and arrested Baptie shortly afterwards. They noticed the smell of strong drink off his breath.

Baptie admitted a charge of committing a breach of the peace before Sheriff Frank Crowe.

Defence solicitor Elaine Clancy told the court that Baptie - who has previous convictions - had a problem with mental illness and alcohol.

She added: “Mr Baptie was heavily intoxicated at the time of this incident. All of his offending behaviour is due to alcohol.

“He has mental problems including bi polar disorder.”

Sheriff Crowe deferred sentence on Baptie until February 2012 in order for the court to obtain reports about his background.
