No place like a Lothian home

EAST Lothian has been voted the fourth best place to live in Scotland, according to a new report.

The county came just ahead of neighbour Midlothian, and way ahead of the Capital in the recent Bank of Scotland Quality of Life league table. East Lothian has also jumped up two places from last year's sixth position.

The bank's fourth annual survey, which covers all 32 local authorities in Scotland, tracks where living standards are the highest by ranking local performance across key areas.

East Lothian is listed in the top ten Scottish areas for weekly annual earnings, ranging from 558 to 685, and home ownership is at, or above, the Scottish average of 67 per cent.
