NINE lambs have been killed and six seriously injured after being attacked by a Dalmatian-type dog at a Lothian farm.
A member of the public reported the dog worrying animals in a field at the Pyramids Business Park in Bathgate, West Lothian on Sunday evening.
Police investigated and the farmer informed officers that several lambs had been killed or injured.
Officers are urging anyone who can assist their investigation to come forward.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The death of these lambs has an obvious financial impact upon the farmer. However, the manner in which they have died is also very distressing.
“We are conducting local enquiries to identify the dog responsible and its owner.
“Anyone who can help us with this is asked to contact police immediately.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
