NHS staff are cleaning up

HANDWAsHING rates among NHS Lothian staff continue to be among the best in Scotland, figures have shown.

In the latest hand hygiene audit – introduced to combat the spread of infection in hospitals – it emerged that the health board was achieving levels of well above 90 per cent.

It signifies great improvement in the organisation. Two years ago bosses wrote to doctors threatening them with disciplinary action if they did not wash their hands more often.
