Newsagent hit by knife robber

A MAN armed with a knife robbed a newsagent in the Trinity area this morning.

The suspect entered News Express in Craighall Road with his face covered by a scarf at 6.40am this morning and threatened a member of staff with a knife before making off with cash and cigarettes.

He was last seen running south from the scene near Victoria Park.

He is described as being in his late teens or early twenties, 5ft 3ins to 5ft 6ins tall, of skinny build, and wearing a cream or light-coloured hooded top, with the hood up.

A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Craighall Road at around 6am, who noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area, to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or who has any other information that can help our inquiries, should also get in touch."
