New vision for East Lothian

A BLUEPRINT for a “prosperous, safe and sustainable” East Lothian with a vision to create more new jobs, more affordable housing, and promote better health and wellbeing has been rubber-stamped by councillors.

East Lothian Council leader, Willie Innes, said the “radical improvement programme” would focus on building services around the needs of the local population, but admitted it would be a challenge to prove “better services at lower cost”.

The five-year plan lays down key objectives, including increasing economic growth, providing communities with necessary housing, transport, community facilities and environment and protecting vulnerable older people.
