New DNA sample to be taken from rape accused

Fresh DNA samples are to be taken from a man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Livingston last April.

Andrew Apolojohanaangles is due to stand trial.

A judge granted authority for fresh samples after an appeal court ruling meant previous ones taken were inadmissible.

The Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh ruled earlier this week, in a separate case, that after a person was charged he or she was under the protection of the court and its authority was required for the taking of such samples.
