THE programme for Scotland’s first national celebration of reading was due to be revealed in the Capital today.

Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop was set to appear at the National Library of Scotland to announce plans for Book Week Scotland, which begins on November 26. Throughout the week, people of all ages and with all interests will be encouraged to take part in activities across Scotland.

Ms Hyslop was to be joined by Marc Lambert, chief executive of Scottish Book Trust, Andrew Dixon, chief executive of Creative Scotland, and representatives of several organisations involved in Book Week Scotland.

A panel of volunteers, known as The League of Extraordinary Book Lovers, who will hand out advice and recommendations, will also be unveiled.
