New bus service solution restores missing city link

A NEW bus route will see services return to the Craigentinny and Fillyside areas of the city.

The number 129 will be run by Eve Coaches, based in Dunbar, and link the Ocean Terminal shopping centre in Leith with Seton Sands.

In 2008, the shortening of Lothian Buses’ number 12 service meant that the public transport network between Leith Links, Craigentinny/Fillyside and Portobello was lost.

The new deal came about during negotiations to find replacement services for those withdrawn by First Bus to several East and Midlothian communities. Edinburgh city council transport convener Lesley Hinds said: “I’m delighted that by working with East Lothian we have been able to engineer a solution.”
