New appeal for woman in hock to cash lenders

POLICE have launched a new appeal for information about a woman who went missing after getting into trouble with money lenders.

Strathclyde detectives fear Lynda Spence, 27 - who is also known as Lynda Zefaj, Lynda Palmer and Lynda Reilly - may have come to harm after running up huge debts.

She was last seen by her parents at their home in Castlebank Place in Glasgow Harbour on 13 April, at 6pm.

The next day she sent a text to her mother saying that she had travelled to London. But since then her parents have had no contact from her.

Detective Superintendent Alan Buchanan, of the major investigation team, said: "Despite our extensive enquiries and appeals for information, we have yet to obtain any information on Lynda's whereabouts.

"As each day goes by, we are becoming increasingly concerned for Lynda's safety. She has not been missing before and it is totally out of character for her not to contact her family.

"Understandably, Lynda's family are distraught about her disappearance and need to know that she is safe and well. I would again urge her to contact her family or police as a matter of urgency.

"Lynda had worked in the past in the finance sector, particularly around the securing of mortgages, and we believe that she was in severe financial difficulty with a number of deals failing, resulting in her owing a number of people money. This may have caused Lynda to disappear in an attempt to avoid these people. Equally, it may have resulted in her coming to harm at the hands of those who blame her for them losing money."
