New appeal as concern grows for woman

POLICE have made a fresh appeal for information on the whereabouts of a missing Edinburgh woman.

Elizabeth Brown was reported missing when her family began to worry after not hearing from her since 22 May.

Lothian and Borders Police said she was last seen on Friday 28 May disembarking a bus in Nicolson Street wearing a black jacket, open-neck blouse, blue jeans and black shoes. She was carrying two Aldi bags.

Ms Brown, 55, also known as Betty, is 5ft 7in (1m 70cm), with fair hair and glasses.

Police said they were growing increasingly concerned because her prescribed medication finished on Sunday and none of her pay has been withdrawn.

Inspector Murray Dykes said: "The fact that Betty's medication has run out and her pay has been left untouched in her bank is giving us cause for concern, as we are told this is highly unusual."

Police are trying to find out whether Ms Brown, from Hawick, could have travelled to the Borders.
