Neil Lennon cleared of racially abusing player

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been cleared of racial abuse.

The Crown Office said there was "no evidence" that he abused Rangers striker El Hadji Diouf during an Old Firm game in March.

Police launched an investigation after receiving complaints about an exchange between the pair.

Paul McBride QC, who has acted for Lennon in the past, said: "This comes as no great surprise to me. This appears to be a malicious attempt to discredit him.

"Unfortunately, it has taken up the time of the police - and money. The alleged victim didn't even make a complaint".
