Nairn homeless man found on fire in town centre

POLICE are investigating an incident where a man sleeping rough in the Highland town of Nairn was found on fire.

The 34-year-old was rushed to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness suffering from burns to his lower body.

The emergency services were called to the town’s Tower Court at 10.45pm on Tuesday.

It is understood the man slept rough regularly. A police investigation has now been launched to establish exactly what happened.

A spokesman said: “At around 10.44pm on Tuesday emergency services attended a medical matter in the Tower Court area of Nairn.

“A 34-year-old man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with burns to his lower body.

“Inquiries are ongoing into this incident and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything unusual or suspicious or has any information to contact them on 101.”
