Museums miss spend target

Customers are not spending enough money in Edinburgh’s museums, according to council chiefs.

A council target had been set to increase the spend per customer in museums by four per cent. But figures for October and November 2011 show the increase was only 2.3 per cent.

However, the Museum of Edinburgh performed strongly and was up 41 per cent, while the Museum of Childhood was down two per cent, the Writers’ Museum was down 11 per cent and the City Arts Centre was down 2.6 per cent.
