Murder victim identified, but mystery remains

A MAN who was murdered in a “violent and brutal” attack has been identified by police.

Maciej Ciania, 34, from Poland, was found at his flat in Dickson Street, Leith, at about 9am on Saturday.

It is thought the body may have lain in the flat for up to two days.

More than 40 Lothian and Borders Police officers are involved in the investigation.

Mr Ciania had lived in Scotland for a number of years and police are keen to talk to any of his friends or associates. Detective Superintendent Allan Jones said: “It is vital that we build a picture of Mr Ciania’s lifestyle and his movements over the past week.”
