Officers cordoned off the area for a forensic examination to take place and are keen to speak to three men in their mid 20s or early 30s in connection with the case.

The first man is described as being of thin build and wearing dark clothing, the second is said to have short light or reddish hair, is of average build, and was wearing a striped jumper and either grey or blue jeans.

The third man is described as having short dark hair and was wearing a dark coloured jacket and trousers.

Detective Inspector Kevin McMahon said: “The Kingsway would have been extremely busy with traffic at the time of this incident.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the disturbance to come forward with any information you may have.

“This is a murder inquiry. Someone out there knows who has done this. I would ask those people to think how they would feel if this was a member of their family and to do the right thing and get in touch with us.”
