Mum attacked while walking with children

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked while walking with her children.

The attempted robbery took place in the Dedridge area of Livingston yesterday.

A 32-year-old woman was walking with her three-year-old son, and pushing her 18-month-old daughter in a buggy, along the footpath behind Quentin Rise about 12.15pm when a man grabbed her from behind.

He demanded money before grabbing her daughter by the hood, pulling her forward and searching the buggy. The woman managed to struggle free and run off with both children, neither of whom were injured.

The suspect is described as being white, in his late teens to early 20s, 5ft 6ins tall, of stocky build with bad teeth. He spoke with a Glaswegian accent and was wearing a dark blue hooded top with the hood pulled tight, and grey jogging bottoms.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Morris who is leading the inquiry said: “This has been a terrible experience for this young mother and her children and while no one was injured, she has been left understandably shaken as a result.”
