Man, 24, in hospital with 'serious injuries' after multi-agency emergency response at Scottish beauty spot

A 24-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling at a Scottish beauty spot earlier today.

Police mountain rescue, fire service and an ambulance crew were dispatched to Finnich Glen, widely known as the Devil's Pulpit, in Stirlingshire at lunchtime today after being alerted.

There were road closures in the area as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Traffic Scotland earlier reported that the B834 had shut at the junction with the A81 and a section of the A809, close to the junction with the B834, had also closed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said emergency services were sent to the area after 1pm after they had received reports of concern for a person who had fallen at the Devil’s Pulpit, which is a well-known local beauty spot.

The spokesman said: “We received a report of concern for a person who had fallen at Finnich Glen, Stirling, around 1.10pm on Sunday, 11 April, 2021.

“Officers attended alongside a mountain rescue team, the fire service and ambulance service. A 24-year-old man was rescued and conveyed to hospital with serious injuries.”

A spokesman for Lomond Mountain Rescue Team said they were called to help move the man safely from the site to a waiting ambulance.

The spokesman said: “Team members were called to Finnich Glen following reports of someone falling into the river below. After being assessed, the casualty was packaged and extracted by stretcher, then passed to the waiting Scottish Ambulance Service crew. Thanks also to Forth Valley Police Division and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.”
