MSPs agree to two-year pay freeze

A TWO-YEAR pay freeze has been agreed by MSPs as part of cost-cutting measures in the Holyrood budget. Salaries will remain at the current £57,521 until March 2013, following a discussion by party leaders.

The effect of the move, coupled with an expenses freeze, is equivalent to a real-terms reduction of 1.5 million over the two years, a Holyrood spokesman said.
