MSP kicks off campaign for fans’ grassroots football nomminations

AN Edinburgh MSP has called on football fans in the Capital to nominate unsung heroes for the Scottish FA Grassroots Awards.

The awards recognise and reward individuals who volunteer to develop local talent in their communities.

The Scottish National Party’s Gordon MacDonald, who represents Edinburgh Pentlands, said: “Scottish football would be lost without those dedicated volunteers who give up so much of their free time to let children take part in the game they love.

“My eldest son played youth football for a number of the Edinburgh teams, and therefore I know that we have a number of great youth teams and coaches who help train, organise and provide a safe environment for youngsters to play.”

Nominations can be made in five separate categories and there will be local, regional and national ceremonies to hand out the awards.

To make nominations, fill out an online form on the Scottish FA website by June 4.
