MP calls for food companies to help jobless

LIVINGSTON MP Graeme Morrice is calling on local food and grocery businesses to sign up to an industry campaign to support young unemployed people in West Lothian.

Feeding Britain’s Future will see thousands of unemployed young people from across the country go into farms, factories and stores for free skills training.

The food and grocery industry will open its doors to thousands of young unemployed people across the UK from September 17 to 21. Youngsters will benefit from training to help them get back into work.

Some of the biggest UK employers are involved, including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Nestlé and Mars.

Mr Morrice said: “West Lothian has some fantastic food and grocery businesses, and this campaign is an opportunity for them to offer important skills training to those who need it most.”
