MP backs bid to build up construction

Livingston MP Graeme Morrice is backing the Get Britain Building campaign, which is calling for the creation of a new business environment to help the UK construction industry thrive.

The MP’s support for the campaign, which is a coalition of organisations from within the construction sector, follows recent official figures showing a seven per cent fall in Scottish construction output, with nearly 50,000 construction jobs having been lost between 2008 and 2011.

Mr Morrice said: “The Chancellor’s complacency in the face of continuing economic stagnation is inflicting further damage on the West Lothian economy. I have been calling for months for a real plan for jobs and growth to get our economy moving again, and am pleased to support the Get Building Campaign’s objective to help the UK’s construction industry to thrive and create much needed jobs.”
