MP and councillor dig deep to help vulnerable

EDINBURGH residents have answered our S'No Bother to Help drive by continuing to dig deep to help keep the city moving.

Among the heroes were Jamieson Joiners and Alex F Noble & Son in Midlothian who used their jeeps to help volunteers get to hard-to-reach areas.

Seafield Coachworks helped to get 4x4s on the road around the clock as well as helping with patient transport, care in the community and meals on wheels.

Among those backing the S'No Bother campaign were local MP Ian Murray and Liberton/Gilmerton councillor Norma Hart, pictured. As the weather worsened their office took numerous calls for help from constituents.

Yesterday the pair got their wellies on and visited elderly and disabled residents in need of assistance.

Ian Murray MP said: "I am calling on the council to urgently consider how whilst maintaining their policy of clearing the main roads they can also find ways of helping vulnerable residents."

Georgina Whitecroft from Dalmeny, who had struggled to get out in the snow, was the first to receive her emergency food parcel from the city council and said she was "thrilled".
