A SPATE of motorbike thefts has sparked a warning from
police over security.

Police said there has been an “unusually high number” of thefts of on-road and off-road motorcycles in East Lothian and Midlothian over the last few weeks.

The thefts ranged from
motorcycles being stolen on the street to raids on garages and huts being used to store them.

Sergeant Gordon Millar said: “We’d like to encourage people to contact police if they see anyone on off-road motorcycles or driving on the road without adequate motorcycle equipment, or any other obvious signs that may suggest that the rider may not be the owner.”
