Mother left ‘haunted’ by alleged abuse

A MUM-of-two was “haunted” by the memory of being repeatedly sexually abused by two brothers, a jury has been told.

Giving evidence from behind a screen at the High Court in Livingston, the alleged victim said she felt “totally shocked and humiliated” at being indecently assaulted by Paul Fraser and his older brother, Conrad.

The 46-year-old claimed she had been attacked by Conrad, 50, a police officer from Livingston, West Lothian, on two separate occasions.

She said that the first time was when she was aged 11 or 12 and still a primary school pupil, when he invited her into his bedroom to look at a mural he had painted on the ceiling then suddenly pulled down her trousers and pants to touch her genital area.

The woman, now living in Fife, said co-accused Paul Fraser, 49, had also sexually assaulted her several times over a period of years.

She told the court: “It haunts me. I was angry and outraged. I was traumatised. I wanted it never to have happened.”

Brian Gilfedder, defending Conrad, asked her if she knew he was a police officer.

He asked her: “Can you think of any reason why he might lie?” She replied: “No.”

The brothers deny all the charges against them. The trial, before Lord Burns, continues.
