Moray police ‘overwhelmed’ by Ian Bramald help

POLICE Scotland said today that the force had been “overwhelmed” with offers of help from the public in the search for a missing pensioner in Moray.

Ian Bramald, 73, has been missing from his home in the Archibald Court area of Buckie since Wednesday morning.

A “very significant” search operation, involving helicopters, specialist search dogs, Coastguard and mountain rescue teams, has already been mounted in a bid to trace the vulnerable pensioner.

Police Scotland have now announced plans to enlist the aid of members of the public in a series of coordinated line searches of the town.

A force spokesman said: “Members of the Buckie Community Policing Team have been overwhelmed with the offers from the public to help search for Mr Bramald.

“Anyone wishing to help our officers in their search for Mr Bramald should attend at the Tesco car park, Buckie, at 1pm today to assist with co-ordinated line searches.

“The search area will include fields, so volunteers should ensure they are dressed in warm clothing and they wear shoes or boots suitable for walking on rough terrain. We will be unable to provide food or refreshment, so please ensure you eat before you join us and take some water with you.”

Mr Bramald is described as approximately 5ft 10ins to 6ft in height, with brown hair which is greying and receding on top. He also has a similarly coloured moustache. When he was last seen he was wearing a short green waterproof jacket, blue corduroy trousers, a cap, a multi-coloured scarf, and glasses.
